The year 2009 so far....This has been a great year for Boardgameguy.com and it's thanks to our great customers like you. We launched the new website in January, started up a Facebook group, we're on Twitter, attended Gen Con in Indiana, our contest page was launched and we have many more things in store for the website and our customers. Many thanks to all of you who enter our monthly contests at a chance to win free board games and gift certificates. Congratulations to our past winners: Jeremy Coe winner of the game Bang, Aaron Bell winner of Pandemic, and most recently Joe Adams winner of the game Steam. As always, check our monthly contest page and enter for your chance at some free games. New Release's and games you MUST know about. There has been the usual crop of new games released so far this year. Dominion won the Spiel des Jahrs (German game of the year) along with two Dominion Expansions that have been released as well. Dominion Intrigue; this is a stand alone expansion which includes 25 new decks. Hybrid action cards worth victory points and more player interaction involved as well. It is a must have game for the Dominion game lover.
Dominion Seaside comes with 26 expansion decks to add to the game including metal coins and player mats. New cards include actions that are good for two turns. You MUST own Dominion or Dominion Intrigue to play this expansion. Le Havre is a strong strategy game with a simple game turn mechanic. A player's turn consists of two parts: First, distribute newly supplied goods onto the Offer spaces; then take an action. As an action, players may choose either to take all goods of one type from an Offer space or to use one of the available buildings. This game plays from 1-5 players. I would recommend 2-3 with this game. Other new releases to consider include: Dice Town: A fun dice game that you throw dice to create poker hands to win victory points. I've played this many times with gamers and non-gamers alike with huge success. Steam Rails to Riches: A remake of Age of Steam and Railroad Tycoon. Game includes base game rules (which I would recommend) and standard rules which make the game more like Age of Steam. Dixit: A light and fun party game. Players take random images and describe them in one word or one sentence; players try to match their images with the description given. Points are awarded to those who guess the correct picture that was described. Pandemic On the Brink: Own Pandemic? That you need this expansion. On the Brink offers three new variants to playing the base game as well as adding an additional player. It also includes Petri dishes for your virus cubes. For these and many more game suggestions you can contact us on our webpage. Protecting your games. With so many games out there most which include some sort of cards, wear and tear is bound to happen with each successive game play, not to mention the occasional accident with a drink or somebody eating Cheetos while playing your game. Mayday Games and Fantasy Flight Games have come up with a solution to this problem. Both companies have created sleeves for your cards with customize sizes to fit 90% of the games out there. We are proud to announce that you can purchase these sleeve through Boardgameguy.com. Look for them in the Game Accessories section on our website. Use coupon code: sleeve - for an additional 25% off of any sleeves. For our Utah consumers: Christmas Open House! We will be hosting a board game open house on November 13th 2009 from 4-8 pm. Purchase board games at 35% off retail, Learn how to play a game and see the contents of a game before you buy. More details of this event will be posted on the website so keep checking back for details. Looking Forward to 2010 and Beyond.... We will be releasing 2 more newsletters by the end of 2009. Each with great coupon codes and information on great holiday gift giving ideas. We're looking forward to increasing our web presence and strive to be one of the premier board game retail stores on the web. Thank you for your support! Ryan
